When the movie Asterix and Obelix was in the making, Obelix was a famous actor and Asterix wasn't. So, what they did is Obelix got a pretty big salary while and Asterix didn't. Later, the movie studio was reading the reviews and everybody loved Asterix, so they retroactively gave a huge lump of money to the actor as a thanks.
