Palmetto Bluff

A luxury golf resort and spa located near Bluffton, South Carolina. Comparable to Hilton Head and Sea Island, but quite a bit more exclusive and private. As low-key as it is high-end, it has an overwhelming old money feel to it. A surprising amount of people live in Palmetto Bluff, with house prices ranging from 625k-25 million.

It is a hotbed for southern elites, and recently has become more well known to Northeastern elites looking for alternatives to overpopulated vacation destinations in New England.

Also considered one of the preppiest and wealthiest places in America.

Guy 1- "I want to go where luxury meets southern hospitality."

Guy 2- "Palmetto Bluff is the way to go dude, and wait until you see some of the Southern Belle's over there."

palmetto bug

The 'palmetto bug' is actually another name for the cockroach.

But it's not the shy, brown-colored little guy that scurries under your desk.

Palmetto bugs live in the deep south, from South Carolina to Florida.

Palmetto bugs are significantly larger than their northern brethren, blacker in color, and bolder. They won't hesitate to drop on your head or run across your toes.

Also, Palmetto bugs can fly. They are also better armored than cockroaches.

I hate palmetto bugs. I saw one in my room this evening and I sprayed a third of a can of roach spray in my room. Where there is one palmetto bug nearby, there is probably a whole colony. Now I will never get to sleep.

Miami Palmetto Senior High School

Palmetto is the school that all the kids who only got into their home school go to. There are kids from all around Miami driving to Palmetto because no one wants to go to Killian. There are also a lot of ex private school kids because they have given up on their studies. The school unfortunately does not have bathrooms, but Juul rooms. The upstairs halls smell bad. Lunch is not terrible. They sell bagels and candy and sometimes sell Papa Johns pizza after school. Clubs and sports is the way to go at this school to be involved. (You'll make tons of friends and go on field trips)

"Palmetto bug" is a southern euphemism for the giant flying cockroach that inhabits the southeastern US. It is more commonly referred to as the "American cockroach" in scientific conversations.

A palmetto bug flew through the front door and into my face. I wanted to bathe in Lysol afterward.
