Overcampensating 

Describes a type of behaviour exhibited by (often) gay men. especially in the period shortly after "coming out" where they are excessively camp. their actions are more flamboyant, their voice more sibilant and higher pitched, their mannerisms more feminine.
This term was first coined in the Musical "It's a real drag" by Steve Kelleher-Brown

In a desparate bid to attract the attention of anyone in the bar who might be looking for an available boy that evening, James began overcampensating again much to the annoyance of his friends who were trying to have a quiet drink.

Ricky shelled out 200K on his place- in-ground pool, hardwood floors, patterned concrete everywhere outside. Man, that place is seriously overimproved and he just got laid off and now he has to sell it. He's screwed, man.
