Ointment Nurse

A complimentary term toward a nurse who places ointment in the fornix of eyes after eye muscle surgery.
Doctor: “Ointment nurse.”... “Ointment nuuuuuurse.”

Nurse: I’ll be there in a second to place the ointment.

Nurse Practitioner

A midlevel provider who went to school for 6-7 years. Many have an MSN but the DNP degree has been introduced to try to blur the lines with Physicians who instead train for a minimum of 11 years. NPs use this obscurity in an attempt to validate their claims for unsupervised practice. Additionally, many graduate nursing programs are degree mills boasting 100% acceptance rates and 100% online coursework. NPs serve an important place in healthcare but are best paired with a supervising Physician.
Nurse Practitioner: "I wanted to be a doctor but the MCAT wasn't open-book, so I went to the University of Phoenix MSN program with online exams".

Nurse Practitioner

NP = Online Trained Midlevel Provider
The NP was a nurse practitioner or non-Physician provider

Nurse Kitty

My cat’s name because she helps me and works her healing magic by selflessly working on the frontline at my house.
I don’t know how I would ever cope without Nurse Kitty.

Nurse drop

Nurses feel the need to let people know they are nurses. Similar to name-dropping, a nurse-drop is when a nurse tells you that they are a nurse very randomly in a conversation without the subject matter even being relevant to the topic.
Nurse drop:

Person A: Hey have you eaten at that new restaurant? It's really good...
Nurse: Yeah I've been, it's pretty good. I'm a nurse so I have a distinguishing palate.
