A prototypically feminine girl. This phrase also connotates derpyness, airheadedness, ditzyness, etc.
housecats are usually, but not always, attractive looking. most girls within the age range of 14-35 are housecats.

the phrase originated as joke between some friends playing skyrim. Lydia was appointed as the dragonborn's "personal housecarl", and they changed it to "personal housecat". the phrase was originally used to exclusively refer to Lydia, but the scope of the phrase has broadened considerably over time. eventually it was used to describe fallout: new vegas's Veronica as well, and then female NPCs from bethesda games in general, then all derpy girls, until the phrase's definition was so broad that it can be used almost (but not quite) interchangeably with "chick".

The phrase IS NOT used to describe older women, young girls, or SJWs
SJW girls are ALWAYS referred to as "loudcats"
older women are oldcats, and young girls are housekittens.

The group of housecats were eating lunch in the high school cafeteria while gossiping and giggling.

Housecat Roommate
