To light someone on fire then pee on them to put the fire out.. The ultimate act of disrespect.
Original reference is to HMS GASPEE. A British navel vessel collecting customs duties in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.
On June 9, 1772 HMS GASPEE was stranded on a sandbar at Warwick, Rhode Island.( renamed Gaspee point) John Brown ( later founder of Brown University & slavetrader) rowed from Providence on a long boat with his crew. Shot the HMS GASPEE’S Captain in the balls then lite the ship on fire.
This was on of the first acts of war against the British Government & King George.
Literally like 18 months before the Boston Tea Party of December 16 1773.

Words you can keep
British Army slang for a cigarette believed to date from around the time of the Second Boer War 1899 – 1902. A gasper was a high tar cigarette, without any sort of filter tip, such as Woodbine or Capstan. They got the name because smoking caused the troops to gasp for breath when engaged in strenuous exercise.
