A person's excuse that they flaked out on an agreed-upon meeting or date with you because their phone was not working, not paid, or not charged. These excuses are often belied by the fact that a call to the user results in a normal dial tone, rather than going straight to voicemail.
The dead phone routine usually goes something like this:
1. "Sorry, I got stuck downtown and my phone died."
2. "Hey I just got my phone back up I had to pay it first."
noun: When you call people, but none pick up, as if simulatenously all telecommunication services are disabled.
Can stretch over the course of an hour to over a day.
Jerry: I tried to call Melissa yesterday, she did not pick up. But as I was bored I decided to call Phillipp, Josef, Sandra, Yvonne and even my mother, but apparently today was dead phone syndrome!
Tom: I have that as well occassionally, ... but hey, you didn't try to call me!
When you don't answer your cell phone for a couple days because you are sick of having to talk to people, and all your friends think you are dead, but you really just needed a break from it all
Jane: Where were you last weekend John? I called you a million times and you never answered or returned my call, everyone thought you were dead!?!
John: Yeah..I was phone dead last weekend, I just couldn't take it anymore, but I'm back baby!!
12 step recovery jargon referring to someone new who talks about how great life is, now that they'resober. Usually meaning that the person is out of touch with reality.
The new guy seems pretty happy for a dude who has no job, no money and no family. He must be on a pink cloud.
