Definition: The word chaunce is much of an enigma in today's teenage society, but those who can fully grasp the various meanings and uses of the word will refer to it as such:
1. One who carries himself in a presumptuous manner all the while unknowingly giving off an overall vibe of uncoolness that somehow deters from the well-being of those around
2. One who fails miserably at something after premature boasts of achievement
3. Someone that denies a man what he desires most while not receiving any benefit by doing so; the denial is simply due to a lack of comprehension of the gravity of the ordeal

Chaunce
Mystical creatures that dwell in college dormitories. Often put off stenches that pervade even the most sanitary environments. Chaunces are slow, make little sense in their actions, chaunce around all day, and may become violent if perturbed. Chaunces often live in dark, cavernous rooms and take no notice to their own foul odors. Beware of contact with Chaunces, they often irritate others or become extremely violent in nature.

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
