My country, The Bahamas is an archipelago of 700 islands and cays surrounded by a mass of clear blue ocean, The capital of The Bahamas is Nassau, New Providence other islands include Grand Bahama, Andros, Abaco, and other family islands. As a Bahamian, our language is English. There are a diverse population including predominately Haitians, Chinese and Philippines. In our school system we are taught American English and British English, however we love to shorten words and create idioms and phrases we call “Bahamianese.” The majority of Bahamians are coloured.

A chain of 700 islands in the Caribbean Sea that was claimed for Spain in 1492, but switched back and forth between British, Spanish, and Pirate rule between 1648 and 1783, at which point it became a colony of Great Britain. The Commonwealth of The Bahamas became independent on July 10th, 1973. A beautiful land of hot Bahama-mamas, relaxing reggae remix, partying all night long, and the smell of papaya in the air.

A beautiful chain of caribbean islands off the coast of southeast Florida. I've never been there, but my entire grandfather's family is from The Bahamas And Puerto Rico. The Bahamas a.k.a "The Commonwealth Of The Bahamas," has a population of about 260,000 people, bahamian people speak english and some speak Creole. Suprisingly, 85% of all the bahamian population is black. The capital of The Bahamas is Nassau. 32% of the people are Baptist, 20% are Anglican, 19% are Roman Catholic, 12% are Protestant, 6% are Methodist, 6% are Church of God, and 5% other.

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
