Autonomous Vehicle 

A term coined by economist and futurist Karl Smith to refer to cars, trucks, heavy construction equipment light duty "wheeled drones" which operate without guidance from a human operator within or outside of the vehicle.

The term driverless cars will one day sound as anachronistic as horse lessons carriage. I suggest Autonomous Vehicle as it not only refers to all classes of vehicles but can and will be easily shortened to AV.

Autonomous Systems

Machines, software, or vehicles capable of performing complex tasks and making situated decisions over extended periods without real-time human guidance. They perceive their environment through sensors, interpret the data, plan a course of action, and act—all while dealing with uncertainty and unexpected events. The autonomy spectrum ranges from "follow pre-set rules" to "learn and adapt on the fly." The defining feature is agency: the system is not just automated, but has the capacity to choose how to achieve its given objective.

Autonomous Systems Example: A self-driving car navigating city traffic, choosing when to change lanes, and reacting to a jaywalker is an Autonomous System. So is a planetary rover like Perseverance, which can select its own path to a target, avoid hazards, and decide which rocks to laser-zap for analysis, all during a communication blackout with Earth. It's a trusted, independent agent.

An organization commonly mistaken for a gang whose sole purpose is to prevent pointless street fights in the inner streets of New York City. It's origins can be traced all the way back to 1999 and was finnaly established in early 2006 after 2 people with the same sentiments and past decided to make sure a history like their past would never repeat itself. The organization is led by a group of 6 people. The leader, otherwise known as the "commander", who has more power but still equal is codenamed XIII. The vice-commander is codenamed XVII and the "4 Generals" are designated as XXI, JT(Pi), MDL, and IX. All memebers invoked into the organization are designated a significant number which to call themeselves.

Google Autonomous Vehicle

When a person is walking down the sidewalk looking down at their phone. There is no human in charge of the operation of their vehicle (i.e., their body).

A Google Autonomous Vehicle is usually watching the little blue dot to see which way on the map they are moving. Once the Google Autonomous Vehicle figures that out, they can reorient themselves in the right direction towards their destination.
