Descriptive of anything that a recipient did not actively choose to receive, but particularly:

1. Email or IM messages. See spam.

2. Browser or Windows Messenger windows. See pop-up.

3. Malware downloads and network transfers. See adware, spyware, scumware, virus, trojan, and worm.

2. I used to get a lot more unsolicited browser pop-ups in older browser versions.

3. Some browser pop-ups would try to download unsolicited software.

Pictures of babies often, newborn and not taken with any effort, sent without solicitation.
No one wants to see pictures of your baby, if we wanted we would ask.
Just don't.
