The goal of shitmaxxing is to hold your feces in until you're at least finished with your workout. The longer one holds his/her shit in, the larger the gains. The basic theory behind shitmaxxing is that the uncomfortable feeling caused by holding your feces in incites a flight or fight reaction, leading to an increase in testosterone and adrenaline production. This in turn leads to more reps, more sets, longer sessions and more gains.

The person shipmating must use a "come here" motion with their hand by opening and closing it in rapid succession. Shipmating is normally done only by senior enlisted (Chief Petty Officer) sailors.
One can "shipmate" multiple people/things at a time by holding up both arms and possibly a leg.
