Negação (Verneunung, do idioma alemão) é um mecanismo de defesa que refere-se a um processo pelo qual a pessoa, de alguma forma, inconscientemente, não quer tomar conhecimento de algum desejo, fantasia, pensamento ou sentimento, embora este seja verdade.
