moog
An electronic music synthesiser that resembles a keyboard in later models. Other versions of it were rather large and costly to maintain. It was developed in the early to mid 60's by Robert Moog.

Moog
Any of the electronic synthesizers as created by Dr. Robert Moog or the man himself. (rhymes with vogue)
Dr. Moog started his career in 1954 and in the 60's invented the synthesizer, a musical instrument that creates and modulates sound waves using voltages. The earliest Moogs were huge cabinets; later models were made smaller and less expensive for greater accessability by musicians.
This type of synthesis is refered to as analogue (as opposed to digital which was made popular in the 80's due to its reduced cost). Recently there has been a resurgence of interest in analogue sound due to its classic warmth and richness.

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.

Pee Calculus
When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
