Puppy-dog gaurding
When playing tag, or another game where there is a 'base' or other type of safe zone, the person 'it' stands outside the zone, waiting for the person to leave so as to tag them.
person1: *runs into base*

The act of placing gourding in an undisclosed location in one's bed. Gourding has mixed significance depending on the type of gourd. Recent gourding sitings have occurred in the dormitories and fraternities of Northwestern University.

Boffin
British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”
Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
