Falkland Islands

A small group of islands, controlled by the government of the United Kingdom in the south atlantic close to argentina.

in 1982 the Argentinians invaded the falkland islands, believeing that they belong to them.

this resulted in the British Navy being sent to defend the islands in a war that cost the lives of 1000 service men from Argentina and the United Kingdom.

The islands were successfully recaptured, and the falkland islands is now considerd one of the last parts of the British Empire .

Falkland Islands

Hippity Hoppity The Falkland Islands Are British Property

Falkland Islands

A name given by the imperialist english to Las Islas Malvinas.
Located off the coast of Argentina, the Malvinas were named the Falkland Islands after the english invaded them for no reason other than to continue their imperialism.
Let's name the Malvinas, The Falkland Islands, so there is eternal proof of our imperialist intentions.

Falkland Island Flickergooning

When one completes a Falkland Island Flickergooning session, which involves gooning whilst flicking the firefighter's cap of a man's penis while taking part in a tribal ritual around a campfire, one is taken back to the year 1982 at the beginning of the Falklands War.
Hey man, just finished Falkland Island Flickergooning. Really helped ease my stress; You know, it's final's week.
Dude, I'm gonna try that. Weed just doesn't hit the same.

West Falkland Islands

A large dependency of the British crown, located on the southern American continent found at latitude 38.4161, longitude 3.6167° W. It is often mistakenly referred to as "Argentina" but anyone who does so is canonically wrong.

In a similar way, the name comes from the residents of a plucky island nation mocking a much larger hostile nation and their (ultimately flawed) expansionist desires. A good example of another country mocked in this way is West Taiwan (who keep threatening to conquer east/real Taiwan).

The official language of the West Falklands is German for reasons that we won't go in to.

They have won multiple world cups, but most of the ancestors of the current population haven't ever had much success on the world stage in "other events".
Guy 1: "I can't wait to go on Holiday to the West Falkland islands."
Guy 2: "Make sure you learn German before you go."
Guy 1: "why?"
Guy 2: "there's always German's on holiday"

Falklands Effect

When a country, a group, or an individual which might have been expected to tamely accept the theft of its possessions or other bullying fights back, and thus sends a message that it, they, him, or her, is not to be trifled (or f--cked) with by the bully or by anyone else.

Similar to the Stonewall Effect (q.v.)
After the U.K. retook the Falklands, the Argentines never attempted another invasion, and there was a noticeable drop-off in other types of adventurism by tinpot despots around the world, largely because they had been chastened by the Falklands Effect.
