Originating from the term "boss" and the suffix "-ception", this contraction of "your boss having his own bosses" refers to the phenomenon where your boss might be under pressure from his own bosses and is passing that stress down. He may be concentrating on a specific goal and need to ensure everyone on the team is performing accordingly.
Ever since the new project started, my boss has been acting super stressed—it's classic bossception; he's just passing down the pressure from his own higher-ups!
