Britsplaining

Share definition Flag
A post-colonialist mindset which makes British people mistake the global spread of their language as the global acceptance of their lifestyle.

It is a consequence of ethnocentrism: (evaluation of other cultures according to preconceptions originating in the standards and customs of one's own culture).
Example: in an international working environment, during a meeting, British native speakers explain “how things work” to colleagues from other countries.
British native management person: “You should rather have answered I AM NOT SURE to our client instead of Saying no”.

Colleague: “Thank you so much for the britsplaining. The client is French and I am Turkish and we perfectly understand each other”.

When someone from another culture, usually an American, believes they know British culture better than British people because they've watched Harry Potter/Downton Abbey/Peaky Blinders/Derry Girls.
Seppo: It's 4 o'clock, shouldn't you be taking your afternoon tea?
Brit: Stop with the Britsplaining already.

Briesplaining

Share definition Flag
The act of SJWs trying to worm their way out of negative consequences for their blatant racism/sexism. Most notably the briesplainer will always avoid any kind of apology, will avoid any admittance of wrongdoing, and will never take responsibility for their words/actions. Another common trait of briesplaining is an attempt to blame and shift negative attention onto the target of the original prejudicial/discriminatory actions.

Named for the desperate backpedalling by Brie Larson and her fellow SJW supporters in defence of her campaign of racism and misandry in the weeks preceding Captain Marvel's release.
Bob: Did you see Brie Larson's latest interview?
Dave: Yeah, it was pathetic, she's constantly just briesplaining rather than admitting she was wrong.

Bronsplaining, also known as lebronsplaining. When you make up excuses for Lebron James losing or why you think he's the GOAT (greatest of all time).
You: Lebron hasn't bening playing defense this year.

Friend: Bro...he cant do everything. Hes allowed to take a rest.

You: Stop bronsplaining. That's a terrible excuse.

Bat goes on a rant about a topic unrelated to the current conversation. For example, if you are talking about a santa costume you want her to wear, she might go on a whole rant about how the color red promotes fertility.
Morty: "Hi Bat, are you gonna wear that beard for the santa costume?"

Bat: "Beards have long been associated with wisdom and intelligence, and many great thinkers throughout history have sported impressive facial hair. But did you know that beards may also be related to the space-time continuum? According to recent studies, the gravitational pull of a beard can actually warp the fabric of space and time, creating distortions in the nearby area. But enough about the scientific properties of beards - let's talk about how to cook soup. Soup is a versatile and satisfying meal that can be made with a wide variety of ingredients. To make soup, you will need a large pot and some basic cooking tools, such as a knife, cutting board, and stirring spoon. "

Her whole twitch chat: "she's batsplaining again"

The new guy seems pretty happy for a dude who has no job, no money and no family. He must be on a pink cloud.

Striver

Share definition Flag
The striver is an interesting phenomenon that is seen across college campuses. In essence, the striver is an over-achiever who comes from a working or middle class family. He may be an immigrant. He may have been a slacker in HS who was "born again" into an academic wunderkind. Or he may just be an over-achiever who is keeping at it.

The striver is willing to sacrifice his social life at the expense of Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude. The striver is the guy who stays at the library long after you are gone. The striver is the guy who takes 30 credits/semester and considers anything below an A/4.0 failure. The striver doesn't work on campus, he is too busy finding ways to pad his resume instead of working retail or workstudy. The striver lets his grades pay his education by applying to ten scholarships a year.

The striver is a future Soros/Fullbright/Rhodes/Gates/Marshall/etc. fellow. The striver lives to study. For the striver, their fun comes from the rewards they expect to receive in return for their diligence. Be it Law School, B-School, academia, or politics. The striver seeks to find the American Dream through academic success.
Anthony was a striver. He transfered from a TTT to an IVY and graduated in 2 years. He studied his ass off and went to Penn Law. He got a Biglaw offer. But lost it all because of an unmoderated mesasgeboard.

- Harold Koh
