A homosexual male that does not identify with the rest of the gay stereotypes, cliches, clicks, or categories. Usually listens that music that is not house, showtunes, or crap. They also usually don't hang out exclusively in gay bars.

He doesn't like going to clubs and dance shirtless to techno music. He rather listen to a live band, drink, and fuck shit up. He's an alterna-gay.

alterna-fag 

one who tries to blend the realms of being nu-metal, goth, emo, and alternative. The end result is an abomination far worse than the above mentioned monstrosities.

The wild alterna-fag will listen to a sitting of the heaviest shit known to a wooly mammoths anus while crying tears of blood and hate, all this occurs while fat ghostly looking "females" claim odd stances on things.

Alterna-ego 

When a corporate executive attends rock concerts they often have to change out of their button down shirts and slacks and dress in skater/punk/alternative apparel. This is known as their "alternative ego". Derived from the phrase "alter-ego". See Alternative Rock.

When Green Day played down by Wall street, I went to the show dressed business casual because I didn't have my Alterna-ego clothes. I lost a couple of buttons in the mosh pit.

alterna-duh

a term used by critics to describe the wanky clone and chumpy bands that came on the wave of the "alternative" rock jeremiad that arrived after good bands like the Cure and Nirvana scored big hits. The "duh" refers to the fact that those bands are wussy, derivative and stupid to the max. In every genre you have the superstars and then there are the zeroes who ride on the talented groups' coattails.

1. In a CD listening booth I checked out the new releases. I heard a wussy British band doing a song about "boys and girls...", it had a synthesizer pulsing beat ripped off from "Fashion" by David Bowie. The rest of the tracks were utter crap. This alterna-duh album was by Blur.

2. The music critic in the local independent paper referred to the Primitive Radio Gods as an "alterna-duh" band.
