Aionology
Aionology: the study of persistence through change, conceptually similar to topology, only far more generalized, as it applies to all things beyond the mathematical realm, though it also subsumes the mathematical study in principle.
The question that aionology concerns itself with in the most broad fashion is: what constitutes the "same thing" when the underlying structure, environment, representation, or even dimensional context changes?
A topological aionology might examine:
Identity persistence — the conditions under which a pattern remains the same entity despite modification.
Continuity across transformations — what bridges one state to another when the transition is not simple deformation.
Pattern lineage — the ancestry of structures as they split, merge, decay, or reorganize.
