Pronounced "TOOK-us OY-f'n tish." Many variant spellings. Literally "ass on the table," it's a Yiddish phrase meaning a serious atmosphere for talk or negotiation. Closest US-English equivalents are probably "No BS" or "(Let's get down to) brass tacks." Often used in a tone of exasperation. Generally recommended for use within members of the same sex.

Tuchus Pretzel
A piece of feces that is twisted or nonlinear in shape, like a pretzel; especially one associated with the buttocks. From Yiddish tuchus ("buttocks") + pretzel ("twisted bread"). Usually humorous and vulgar.
Example: "Oy vey, Peter scared the daylights out of Arnie and his whole breakfast group when he grabbed his left breast, looked to the sky, and shouted, 'Here I come, Elizabeth!' Instead of falling to the floor or ascending to heaven, his rumbling bowels began to take on the very distinct sound of ancient Yiddish of practiced self-flagellation. No sooner did that happen than his pants dropped and he birthed a tuchus pretzel that could've fed the Waltons."
