To seek compliments and/or support by insulting oneself or by complaining about the difficulty of one's life. n. A person who uses self-deprecation as flattery bait.

Eg: Melanie was a shuckster. Everytime she was given a compliment, she'd turn it into a negative, so that people would have to compliment her more to convince her it was sincere.
