much like a surprise, this is something tangible that one person usually gifts to another, however the gift is usually in poor taste, or is a last minute regifting present and the receiving party generally considers it to be shitty...thus, a shitprise

A colloquial and derogatory alternative name for the ShopRite chain of supermarkets located in the U.S. North East. Usually used by someone who hates shopping at the store or hates working there.

You don't want to work at ShitRite, you should be a peepshow janitor instead. At least you'll get more respect doing that.

The part of a bank's or other lending institution's portfolio that is tied up in risky mortgages. Since many of these institutions are heavily into these loans, they become the 'big shitpile'.

The Big Shitpile Investment Banks are doing their damnedest to hide the full scale of their losses, by writing down only a little at a time.
