Rabbithole

verb (used commonly with Internet)
When you go online to search something and end up two hours later researching an obscure topic that has nothing to do with what you set out to look up. See: Owen Benjamin's "The Internet is Weird"
Me: Did you see Owen Benjamin's Internet Rabbithole video about Rabbitholes?!

You: Yeah, then I went on my own Rabbithole and learned a lot about Alice in Wonderland.

youtube rabbit hole

It is what happens when you watch an embedded YouTube video on another site and then watch a couple dozen related videos that are displayed after the previous video completes. The rabbit hole effect is only encountered after at least an hour has passed and you regain your sense of temporal awareness. This effect usually is followed by, "How the fuck did i get to this video?"
"Dude, I was watching the Macho Claw mod video and an hour later, I realized that I'd watched at least 10 videos about My Little Ponys without remembering how I got there. The YouTube Rabbit Hole is a dangerous thing."

Internet rabbit hole

When you stay up late at night on the internet, browsing random topics that lead you from one site to another, until you wind up in some weird part of the web.
Last Saturday night, I ended up in a Internet rabbit hole due to going from one site to the next.

Rabbit Hole

Metaphor for the conceptual path which is thought to lead to the true nature of reality. Infinitesimally deep and complex, venturing too far down is probably not that great of an idea.

Taking hallucinogenic drugs can be considered "tripping" down the rabbit hole, but it is also explored through philosophical and existential thinking.

The origin of the term is from the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland which leads into Wonderland.
You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
- Morpheus, from The Matrix (I couldnt think of anything original, sorry)

Rabbit Hole

1) To go down a never ending tunnel with many twists and turns on the internet, never truly arriving at a final destination, yet just finding more tunnels. Clicking one link, then finding another on that page, then clicking another link on that page, which gives you the idea to search for something, and the process repeats.

2) Nonsensical process of getting from Point A to Point B with no clear route (and often no recollection) on how one got there.
1) "Josh always goes down the rabbit hole, he started by looking at a news website and reading about Global Warming, but twenty minutes later he's clicked his way to watching youtube videos of monkey's masturbating to sad music"

2) "Team C started out as a unit designation, but after two years of going down the rabbit hole the C stood for chaos, and Team was just a group of guys who wanted to make it home without a rabbit in their asses at the end of the day"

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
Along with Nixon’s other ratfuckers, Roger Stone caused fights at otherwise peaceful Democratic Party protests to generate a false narrative that the Democrats were violent and dangerous.
