A word that nobody really knows what it actually means but is often used by pretentious book and film critics so that they can feel smug.

Pretentious film critic: "The character of Jeffrey F DuMont held a pessismtic, indeed nihilistic, view of the sexual mores of Englands middle class Edwardian social strata, and upheld the view that the Schrodinger's cat paradox between Maria, the pastor's daughter and Bertie, the sentient lump of coal was essentially intrangible"

Nihilistic

People need to stop confusing nihilism with being pessimistic. They are different. You can't be "unhealthily nihilsitic". Expecting the fall of humanity and our lifetime being pointless can be a positive way of life.

If you are just depressed and think life is not worth living, you are not a nihilist. Stop abusing the word.

Trevor said he was unhealthily nihilistic, but he is actually pessimistic, and not a nihilist.

The late hours in the night (typically 12-4 am) in which one procrastinates sleep by occupying their mind with obsessive hopeless thoughts about the universe, and their pointless, mediocre lives, followed by masterbation, then crying to sleep.

Person 1: "Dammit, I hate humans. Why was I born? I want to die."

Person 2: "Stop thinking like that and go to sleep. It's late. We are getting into the nihilistic hours of the night."

People who pretend/act as if nothing is fit for humans other than death. They have no faith in humanity. To them, everyone is evil and doesn't deserve a chance.
