Neo-Classical Logic

A 20th-century revival and refinement of Classical Logic that attempts to address its limitations while preserving its core insights. Neo-Classical approaches keep the basic framework but introduce more sophisticated tools: modal logic (necessity and possibility), multi-valued logic (more than two truth values), and higher-order quantification. It's Classical Logic with an upgrade package—same operating system, better apps. Neo-Classicists believe the old tools are basically right but need to handle complexity the ancients never imagined, like time travel paradoxes or the logical structure of infinite sets.
"You can't solve a time travel paradox with Classical Logic—it just throws an error. Neo-Classical Logic at least gives you a debug console and a few more truth values to work with before your brain crashes."

Neoclassical Rock

When one takes a classical composition and plays it really fast and/or distorted on an electric guitar. Yngwie Malmsteen is the innovator of Neoclassical Rock. It is also much better sounding than regular classical music.
"Whoa Yngwie fucking owned Mozart's Symphony No. 25!"

neoclassical

A genre of painting which became popular between the 1750s-1850s. It was intended to reflect the classic style of greek and roman art and is known for historical settings, muted colors, and still figures. In general, the subjects look as though they were in the middle of something and completely forgot what it was.
Girl 1: Is The Death of Socrates by David neoclassical?
Girl 2: I would say yes, due to its historical setting, muted colors, and the fact that everyone looks like they have no idea where the fricking frack they are.

Neoclassical Postmodernism

A contemporary revival and reinterpretation of classical postmodern themes, adapting them to 21st-century conditions. Neoclassical Postmodernism returns to the founding insights—the critique of grand narratives, the deconstruction of binaries, the emphasis on difference—while applying them to new phenomena: digital culture, algorithmic power, platform capitalism. It's postmodernism for the age of surveillance, of social media, of artificial intelligence. Neoclassical Postmodernism honors the classical tradition while refusing to treat it as scripture, updating its tools for new tasks.
Example: "He'd studied classical postmodernism and loved it. But the world had changed—Foucault hadn't imagined algorithms; Derrida hadn't deconstructed Twitter. Neoclassical Postmodernism gave him tools to apply classical insights to contemporary conditions. The spirit remained; the applications evolved."

Neoclassical Relativism

A contemporary revival of classical relativism, adapting its insights to modern conditions while avoiding its pitfalls. Neoclassical Relativism accepts the core relativist insight—that truth and values are context-dependent—while rejecting the extreme conclusion that all views are equally valid. It develops criteria for evaluating perspectives within contexts, for comparing across contexts, for making judgments without absolutes. Neoclassical Relativism is relativism with standards, pluralism with teeth, the recognition that different doesn't mean equal.
Example: "He'd been attracted to relativism but troubled by its 'anything goes' implications. Neoclassical Relativism gave him a way forward: different contexts, different truths—but within contexts, some truths were better than others. He could respect diversity without giving up on judgment."

Critical Theory of Neoclassical Microeconomics

The application of Critical Theory to neoclassical microeconomics—examining its assumptions, its methods, and its role in justifying capitalist social relations. Critical Theory of Neoclassical Microeconomics asks: Why assume rational actors? Why treat preferences as given? Why focus on equilibrium rather than power? How do these assumptions serve to naturalize markets and obscure exploitation? It doesn't reject economics but insists that neoclassical economics is one framework among many—and one that systematically ignores power, history, and inequality. Critical theory demands an economics that actually explains how economies work, not just how they're supposed to work in theory.
"Neoclassical economics assumes rational actors making optimal choices. Critical Theory of Neoclassical Microeconomics asks: rational given what information? Optimal for whom? Under what constraints? The model describes a fantasy, not reality. Critical theory insists on economics that studies power, inequality, and exploitation—not just idealized markets. Economics that ignores power is just apologetics."

murderhobo

In a tabletop game, a murderhobo is a player who murders NPCs indiscriminately. This is normally derogatory, referring to a player who totally ignores quests, dialog, backstory, trade, world building etc.

The term is most common with Dungeons and Dragons, but it can be applied to most RPGs where the player is allowed to kill most quest-giving NPCs and NPC traders. E.g. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Divinity original sin.
DM: The sad little orphan girl tugs at Steve's trenchcoat to get his attention, and ask for help saving her pet dog from...
Steve: I'd like to roll a strength check against strangling the orphan.
Dave: I call dibs on the dog.
DM: You murderhobos disgust me.

In sales terms, a whale is a prospect that is significantly larger than an organization’s average customer.

Whales are large and extremely difficult to close. Due to their immense size, they are highly sought-after.

A whale is typically identified at first by a whale hunter on the sales team, but often requires cross-discipline participation in order to close; this includes assistance from operations, engineering, creative, client success, and business development teams.
"Shit...the sales director chewed me out on the sales call this morning. He's totally pissed that I have nothing in my pipeline. I've been focused on this one whale for so long that I haven't had time to prospect for normal-sized deals."
