Not specific to any particular demographic, as they come in all shapes, sizes, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, ages, and races. It is a portmanteau of the words Monkey and Yankee.
One time a chick at the bar told me she could tell that I'm not from New York, and I said thank god because the last thing I want to do is be associated or confused with Mankees. Because we all know Mankees are delusional AF!
