Mallternative

A word I coined in the summer of 1997 to describe the people (mostly young adults) who relied on MTV and cookie-cutter clothes from the local malls and corporate clothing stores (ie.Urban Outfitters) to design and define their "alternative" lifestyle. It came to me in '97 when I saw a kid drive up in his red, '65 mustang wearing a mall-bought golf cap while sporting his inreasingly popular, brand new, fresh from the package wife-beater to show off his latest "tribal" arm-band tatt. The Mallternative clone can only participate in a prefabbed lifestyle that was mass produced for similar like-minded individuals designed to represent their 'unique' place in the world amongst all their other 'different' peers in the herd.
"Look at him with his pseudo-tattered, store-bought, knee-less, pre-stained jeans and his fake tattoo t-shirt...He's SO Mallternative!"

"I am the same, yet I still think I'm different, in a uniquely special kind of way...I'm Mallternative!!...hey, look, it's a Journey's right next to a Hot Topic!!!"

Mallette

In the technology of sales, the term “Mallette” refers to a elevated level of success that has continued for a long period of time. (Usually 2 or more years)

It is commonly tied to the term “a living legend” but is specifically the long term streak someone has achieved over a period of years.

Derivation From Old French: Hammer of Iron
I’ve been on a hot streak lately but no where near Laura. She’s headed for a “Mallette” !!!

Mallternative

Similar to mall-core. As a person: One generally in high school who frequents such stores as Hot Topic, revelling in their alt.life and thinking they're so alternative when they are simply doing the same thing that most other kids across the country are doing.

As a concept: Something that is trying to hard to be cutting edge and hip and cool but is about as edgy and cool as a warm bowl of oatmeal. "alt" for the masses.

Marketeer

A portmanteau of the wordsMarketing’ and ‘Buccaneer’, created by Brand Managers in an attempt to make them sound more dynamic.
Bob “I ran into Dwain Dibbley the other day.”
Mike “Really, so what’s he up to these days?”
Bob “Apparently he’s a Marketeer for MegaGlobal Corp.”
Mike “Well; he always was an unimaginative, spreadsheet licking twat!“
Bob “For sure.”

Malliteracy

A condition in which someone consistently writes words and phrases incorrectly; distinct from Illiteracy in that a malliterate person can read and write but simply gets words and phrases wrong.

Malliteracy usually occurs when a person writes words and phrases he or she has only heard but never read, such as:

1. Alot (instead of "a lot.")
2. Alright (instead of "all right.")
3. One in the same (instead of "one and the same.")
4. Pacifically (instead of, "specifically.")
5. Dominate (used as an adjective instead of "dominant.")
6. Volumptuous (instead of "voluptuous.")

(As an aside, if you read an online dating profile from a woman and she uses both of those last two words in the same profile, the odds are extremely high that she's under 5'5" tall and weighs over 300 lbs)
I had a hell of a time trying to read my friend's email, because his malliteracy made it almost impossible to figure out which words he was trying to use.
