Missed is often used to describe a situation when you fail to be present or when you fail to hit or strike an object. However, when the word missed is used in quotation marks, such as "missed", it refers to being totally smashed out of your mind, in a hugely small amount of time, so much so that you are asked to leave the bar immediately, even before the band plays their first song, and you therefore "missed" the band, even though you were present at one point, but oddly enough you didn`t "miss" the ground when you hit it leaving the bar.
Chuck...."Man, can you believe Mark missed that awesome band last night?"

Donna..."But I thought Mark was at the show?"

Chuck..."Well, he was, but then he "missed" it."

Donna..."Oh, now I get it."

Hym "Nah, they love it. They missed us. Back by popular demand! And our fanbase consists of all the right people (They're cheap assholes who don't give us any money) but they are the people who were intend to be fans."

Iam "I kind of thought our absence would go unnoticed."

Hym "Not that we're doing this for anyone other than ourselves. Just know that your response to this has been hilarious. I'm greatly amused. Which (in the context of solipsism) is your role in life. Great work!"

trucker's tan

A sunburn or suntan focused on the left arm. It is caused by the left side of the body being the only half that gets exposed to sunlight while driving. Presumably, it would be located on the right side of the body in countries where they drive on the left side of the road.
I had a trucker's tan after driving for 10 straight hours on a sunny day.

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.

Pee Calculus

When you have to pee in a movie but don’t want to miss anything, and must do the following mental equation: will the amount I have to pee cause enough discomfort to diminish my attention capacity for the remainder of the movie to an extent which is greater than the amount of the movie I would miss by making a mad dash to the restroom.
I saw Satantango last night, wonderful film but by the 5th hour I had to start doing pee calculus.
