A joef is an unobstructed gaseous state in the bowels, much like a fart. If one tries to relieve this pressure without assistance, a joef often turns out to be a shart where it regains some solid state either fully solid or a liquid. When released, joefs sound like how they do when phonetically said aloud. Joefs smell terrible, too, like the bog of eternal stench.
Sometimes when I think I have to fart regular, it ends up being a joef and I'm surprised by a little skid mark and a rancid smell.
