in the water

when a person is so far gone on a drug that they can no longer control themselves and lapse into a deep sleep from which they remember nothing of what happened.

The water is not gentle though it is a mental and physical state to avoid. A sensation like one is dying is typically felt. also people recall before they black out that they felt like they would lose control of their mind and body.

it is best to stay out of the water ladies and gentlemen...
Tim: "that chick just had six blunts 17 shots and now she's passed out on the floor"
John: "ya... she's in the water"

Let's Get This Pony in the Water

When you need to start a podcast but the margaritas have turned your brain into Michael Scott, and this is all you can muster. You just got that pony in the water.
Moving on let's get this pony in the water and discuss this weeks episode of sister wives!

Don’t cry in the beer, but you can put the chicken in the water

The secret of the universe. All will be understood when the phrase is mentioned.
Sitting around discussing all of life’s problems, someone exclaims “don’t cry in the beer, but you can put the chicken in the water”. Suddenly everyone understands everything. A true ah-ha moment.

stuck in the Water Temple

A phrase describing something so incredibly confusing that you have no idea how to get through it. Comes from the Water Temple in Zelda 64, one of the most insane levels I've seen in any video game, ever. No joke - EVERYONE gets stuck in the Water Temple when they play this game, usually for weeks/months/years.
"What am I supposed to do next?! GAH! This is like being stuck in the Water Temple!!!"

Dead in the water

-idiom/phrase

Many different interpretations, but here's mine.

An idea or product that is hindered by lack of careful thought and planning and does not appeal to the masses. The fault usually falls upon the developer of the idea/product. When the product or idea is dispersed to the intended audience, the audience immediately dismisses it. The idea or product was doomed from start.
Here's an idea that takes 'dead in the water' to an epic level.

original post:
'was just thinking. my sister does -alot- of reading, and spends like $1000 a year on just books alone. most of them she reads once then never looks at again. is there any kind of like…video rental store but for books? would make things a lot cheaper, plus once one person has read one the next person can get enjoyment from it etc'

Surf Dracula Syndrome

A phenomenon in film/television series, most notably streaming series, where the main premise is drawn out to such a point that it takes an entire season or more to get the parts of the series the audience is actually interested in seeing.

For example, if a series is titled "Surf Dracula," a majority of viewers would tune in expecting to see Dracula surfing by the first or second episode. However, the entire first season would instead be tedious padding and backstory before finally ending with Dracula surfing in the last five minutes of the season finale.
I watched "Smallville" on Netflix the other day. Dude, it was ten seasons of filler before he finally flew! Major Surf Dracula Syndrome!
