To express great joy and excitement in response to another's statement or suggestion. Also used to greet people in the North East (specifically Sunderland.) Similar to the use of 'weelet' used in the surrounding pit villages, weelet came from 'wee lad' whereas howleet derives from 'hew lad' or 'how lad'.
