To take a sexual or romantic interest in someone; usually teenagers feel this emotion, and it roughly translates to 'I want to go out with her, but I won't really take this relationship seriously, or expect it to last that long'.

If one desires a serious, long-lasting relationship, they may be feeling love as opposed to fancying someone.

Teen 1: look at her, she's so fit! I really fancy her!
Teen 2: not keeping your expectations too high, eh?

Fancy is a nickname for a really interesting girl. Even if you haven’t met her you already know she is interesting. She drinks white wine and chai latte while thinking about what funky clothes to wear. She also likes to break into people’s houses and pretend to be house sitting. When she isn’t drinking wine or breaking into houses she likes to chat online with her many stalkers. She is cute, intelligent, sophisticated, has a good sense of humor, and refuses to smile in profile pictures. You would be lucky to meet her.

Fancy is the kind of girl who deserves her own definition on Urban Dictionary, not a mere sentence.
