Daddylads choose a lad wisely, based on certain specific qualities that can be nurtured. For example, fiestyness, a soft handshake and excellent genital cleanliness are all attributes that are favoured by a prospective daddylad. After several months learning at sea a lad may be proclaimed as clean, and even reach the status of being gooched.
