approfitive

When a business owner uses another race’s history, images, and culture for personal monetary gain or ‘profit’ without being in accountable relationship with members of that community.
The non-Black owner of the local restaurant in my neighborhood is approfitive. He put up pictures of Martin Luther King and Angela Davis and gives whitewashed accounts of the neighborhood’s history that fits a narrative he can sell. And he doesn’t seem to care about critics as long as he’s making money.
