Aiwan (sometimes Dawan or Diewar) is a slang often used by an uneducated, self-righteous, warmongering, selfish, and extremely nationalistic
person who was born in Taiwan, having extremely limited English skills, and completely lacks knowledge regarding international relations, geopolitics, and rational reasoning, to refer to the Republic of China (a.k.a Taiwan) in a English conversation where he usually boasts Taiwan's
democracy and freedom, claiming that Taiwan is undoubtedly an independent country, and tries to refute people's criticisms against Taiwan. Such kind of a
person, while always pretending he knows the aforementioned freedom and
democracy very well, in reality, often has zero knowledge about freedom of speech or anything else. When he or Taiwan itself is challenged, the
person can barely take any criticisms at all, and most of the
time will cluelessly come up with a brilliant conclusion that you're definitely one of the PRC's sympathizers, and urge you to move to China if you don't like the current situation in Taiwan.
A: You know, I really don't think President Tsai Ing-wen is doing well in terms of protecting labor
rights, amending the pension of retired public servants, policies in regard to power supply and abolition of nuclear power plants, relation with the PRC, decisions to invest 880 billion NTD into some
useless or troublesome areas like extending the MRT to Changhua, a place where citizens are NOT known to use mass transportations very much, etc. Out
government really sucks.
B: How daer u critesise Prezident Tsai und Aiwan?! If u don't like Aiwan, u ken move to other countris!
A: But you gotta admit that our current relation with China is not that
good, compared with that when President
Ma was still the president.
B: Oh?!?! So u r Shina's puppet!! If u like comuniszm und
lake of freidum und democrazy that much, move to Shina! Pazifik osean is without covrs! I knew u r such a 426, 9.2, 689, Wu-Mao when u stard talking shit! Wast mein daime!
