Vubbing

Vubbing (portmanteau of ‘voice over’ and dubbing) is the use of generative AI to digitally alter lip and facial movements to match different translations of a film’s dialogue track.

The studio wanted a PG-13 rating so the editors used vubbing to remove a lot of the profanity in post-production.

The film is vubbed, that’s why the voiceover looks seamless even though the actors originally spoke Japanese..
