Noun. The specific flavor of soul-crushing, low-level existential dread that defines life in the late 2020s. It’s what you feel when the internet has fully optimized itself to farm your attention with infinite AI slop, algorithmic ragebait, and parasocial relationships while the real world quietly collapses around you. You know something is deeply wrong but can’t stop scrolling.

Brought to public attention by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein in the book on the fall of Richard Nixon, All The President’s Men, ratfucker was Nixon’s term for a political operative who sows chaos among opponents; an agent provocateur. It is thought to have originated among campus political rivalries at USC, and seems to have some usage in the US military.
