Teenult

noun)
A blend of teen + adult, referring to an adult who responds emotionally like their teenage self when triggered, especially in love, rejection, conflict, or abandonment.

A teenult looks grown on the outside but still carries:
• teenage-level intensity
• fear of being left
• impulsive attachment
overthinking
• emotional overwhelm
• craving for validation
• panic during conflict
• “I can’t regulate this” vibes

It’s the version of you that never felt fully seen, supported, or emotionally safe growing up — so it hijacks the adult self anytime old wounds get activated.

Used in healing circles and therapy spaces to describe:
“Adult-me is functioning, but teen-me is driving the emotional bus.”
1.
“I swear it wasn’t adult me texting him 20 times, it was my teenult losing her mind.”

2.
“My teenult takes rejection like the world is ending, but my adult self is like… girl please.”

3.
“When your crush leaves you on read and your teenult is suddenly on the floor sobbing.”

4.
“I’m trying to date like an adult, but my teenult keeps choosing chaos.”

Teenulting

A mash up of teenager & adulting, when you’re a young adult who just recently went through the teen phase and puberty shiz. Now you’re a lil responsible but still a ‘kid’¿?
Ezekiel: bruv did you move out of your parents house?
Dani: nah bro I am still teenulting, figured I’d save up on rent for now, I am only 22.
