A deliberate misspelling of "seppuku" — the samurai ritual of suicide by disembowelment. The misspelling removes the direct reference to suicide, replacing it with the name of a popular and frustrating number puzzle.

Pranksters on a bunch of internet forums will tell uninformed computer users to type this into the Terminal to fix their computer problems. Once these poor bastards hit the return key and type in their password the system starts erasing everything on the hard drive. This command is only for use with Un*x-like operating systems (Mac, Linux, and BSD but not Windows.) The Windows version of this command is 'format c:'

Uninformed User- "Hey I need help with something."
Troll -"Type 'sudo rm -rf /' into the Terminal and hit return, and then enter your password"
Uninformed User- "WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?"

Sudoku

It's a popular Japanese math game commonly found in newspapers and publications with related games (crosswords, etc.)

On online message boards, particularly 4chan's /v/, people mix the word for Japanese ritual suicide, "seppuku," with "sudoku." The typo has since spread and became adopted in a similar fashion to "pwn" in regards to "own."

"If you seriously gave EA your money for that piece of sh*t you should just commit sudoku."

Put in front of any word, spoken or writen, and it will command anyone to do anything you want them to do.

This command line may only work with linux geeks, if it doesn't work for you, you do not love Tux enough!

Man: Get me my beer
Woman: No, get it yourself
Man: Sudo Get me my beer
Woman: ffs I hate being compelled to get it.
