Sidequel 

A film or movie in which the story-line and/or characters were only supporting roles in a previous theatrical release. It is similar to a spin-off on television.

Synonym: a side-story of movie

It differs from a sequel in which the story-line and characters are assumed to take place chronologically AFTER the original work . It also differs from a prequel in which the story-line and characters are assumed to take place chronologically BEFORE the original work.

An important characteristic of a sidequel is that the film may not even allude to of any of the principle characters of the original work. It is usually also retains the same director, writer, etc.

The movie, "This Is 40", is a sidequel of "Knocked Up" since it primarily follows the side story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann), the in-laws of Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl) in the original film.

Coochie SideQuest 

A coochie sidequest is when you stray off your path on the coochie quest and decide to hit up a bar or club and momentarily make that your focus.

Coochie sidequests are admirable parts of storytelling to the boys around a campfire of sorts. But coochie sidequests should never be the full story or ur just lame.

Bro 1: So as I was at the halfway mark of the coochie quest, my car broke down. Coincidentally in front of a club. I decided to pursue a coochie sidequest as it was getting close to the edge of dusk.

pursuit of a crush or a love interest while in school. while learning is the main purpose of going to school, part of the whole journey is finding/trying to find/pursuing a crush/love interest. such diversion/digression from or supplement to academics is a sidequest.

A: Derivatives schmerivatives. Fuck Finance. Man, I want a sidequest. I'm tired of this shit.

B: I am a helicopter.

A: Pete, you're really close with Tracy right? Chinese, petite, really cute... sweet...

B: Three Erlenmeyer Flasks and the Industrial Revolution.
