Rockasilly

The beginning of this phrase started around the mid 90s, when some became more so aware of “Greasers” and “Rockabilly cats”, confused the two, and/or hated the two.

(1) A derogatory term or insult used for patriots of the rockabilly lifestyle.
(2) An insult expressing how one believes that Rockabilly is silly, for the style (referring to the Cats and Kittens whom are also 50s clothing enthusiasts), music, and attitude.
(3) One whom confuses a person involved in the rockabilly scene with one whom is a greaser that listens to Rockabilly music.
Jerk off #1: Look at this Rockasilly his pompadour, cuffed Levi’s, and lucky strikes!

Jerk off #2: Hey aren't you heard of that one band?
Pomped kid: To which band are you referring to?
Jerk off #2: Haahaa that stupid ROCKASILLY band that slaps around the stand up bass and sings about cars, booze, and pretty girls.

Rockabilly

Rockabilly is not a style it's a way of life.

Rockabilly started out as an underground subcultured music before the birth of Rock 'n' Roll in the 1950's. It was then revived in the 1980's with bands such as The Stray Cats and The Polecats.

Rockabilly is classed as a mondern day 1950's style. But it's roots go much deeper.

You can notice a Rockabilly Guy by there Slicked Quiffs, Turn-Ups and Engineering Boots or Converse.

Girls usually wear the same but with a Quiff, Bettie Paige fringe or Curled hair.

There are several weekenders dedicated to this lifestyle that Thousands of people from around the world attened.

Being interested in the 1950's and Rockabilly is not just about dressing like they did, but also about changing your lifestyle. Listening to only 19-40's to early 1960's music.

It's one heck of a way to live though!

West Midlands slang word for rockers, bikers, greasers etc. In the late 1980s it was used by the UK music press to refer to a specific scene centered around the bands Pop Will Eat Itself and Crazyhead. The term never found favour with readers of 'the inkies' (Sounds, Melody Maker and the still extant NME) and was soon dropped. Now often used in predominantly working-class areas of the midlands and the north to mean someone who listens to rock-derived music and/or dresses in a manner that suggests they affiliate themselves with rock music of some kind.
