Peacocked

Back in 1999, members of the football365 football forum (now mostly found at cupwinkcook.com) formed an e-mail group for some of the forummers to send each other the latest e-mail jokes, attachments, etc. in a convenient way.

One member of the group, Peacock (named so after the Leeds United nickname "The Peacocks"), had the rather annoying habit of posting the latest jokes, attachments, etc. after they had already been posted.

This led to the term "Peacocked".

When you're a big fan of the Premier League and look ahead to the schedule of fixtures for the upcoming gameweek, and see that one or several interesting matches are exclusively on NBC's streaming service "Peacock." This leads to a wide range of possible setbacks, such as an inability to record the game on Cable TV or Fubo, or making the trip out to a pub hoping that they have subscribed to it (or have someone on staff willing to switch from conventional TV to the SmartTV alternative).

"Hey man, trying to catch Chelsea vs. United tomorrow?"

"No doubt, let's check the schedu— ...oh no"

"What...?"

"We got Peacocked... at 5:30 AM"

"Gahhh alright, well can we at least record the ma- oh damnit."

"Yeah, and the pub doesn't open until 7:00."
