intellectually juvenile

The term 'intellectually juvenile' politely describes someone who is unintelligent, unwise or just not the 'sharpest knife in the drawer'.

The term 'intellectually juvenile' applies to a person, or group of people, who are not as developed in their thinking as they should be for their age, education, experience, geographical location, social environment, etc.

Background: Most of the people who are constantly calling other people 'stupid' are well known to be 'not-so-bright-themselves', and thus the word 'stupid' has lost its credibility and power as a descriptive term. The word 'stupid' is overused, low brow and passé.

-
Ex.

Jim: Glenn! Did you just call me stupid !?!

Glenn: No, Jim. However, I most certainly implied that you are 'intellectually juvenile'. (said while smiling and in a nice tone)

-

Jim: OK! I thought you were calling me stupid, and, I was about to get very upset. Sorry.

Glenn: That's OK Jim. Most 'intellectually juvenile' people are blissfully unaware when a person calls them out on their errors, nonsense and lies, and they are generally oblivious when a sentient uses accurate, basic and descriptive words to describe 'intellectually juvenile' people to themselves.

-

Jim: You are a great friend, Glenn!

Glenn: I know. (smiling that smile he is well known for)

Half baked Intellectualism

Half baked Intellectualism refers to individuals whos only merit or credibility in relation with either political or social topics or matters lies explicitly upon their research and study and not backed with any level of first hand personal experience. therefore lacking any level of true or real incite and understanding of the mentioned topics or issues. Whereby they simply recite the works of others and thus fancy them selves to be knowledgeable and educated. Without having made any real contribution to the discussion or issue at hand.
The best way to summarise Half baked Intellectualism. Is to say that

Mike who has his whole life lived in a free society and thus has never experienced first hand the horrors of tyranny or subjugation, but has a Masters degree in political science. Writes a book addressing his views in relation with life under tyranny and suppression.

pseudo-intellectualism

Intellectually Lazy

= Having no tolerance for mental pain/work to solve problems.
- having trouble solving a math problem? Give up and blame it on your teacher!
- have no idea how to think something through? Put it off and let someone else figure it out.
- having trouble understanding an argument of someone else? There's no need to understand them - they're wrong anyway!
- have an unsettled question that bothers you? Leave it unanswered. Your questions don't matter!
- not sure if the author of a news article is right? Just hope they know what they're doing and don't think about it!

These are examples on how to be intellectually lazy.

Don't be this way!
PHONE CHOICE
Jonathan: Do these people know where their phones are coming from?!
Zacarius: No. Either they do not care where the phones come from or they try not to think about it.
They must be intellectually lazy when choosing products.
Jonathan: It's very likely that they are, considering that the ones they use come from slave-wage factories with poor working conditions.
Zacarius: They should buy x-phones. They're evidently eco-friendly, made in good factories, a good investment for long-term use, and user-friendly.

anti-intellectualism

Hostility towards people who care about facts and education.

The mentality that truthiness satirizes.
Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that "my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." - Isaac Asimov
