To move or act blindly, stupidly, or without direction or guidance. Normally a really bad decision made worse through over rationalization.

The move to Hawaii was a clear example of Hinoting.

When a person puts song lyrics as their Facebook status, to hint at a persn to what they are feeling. But claim to everyone else they just like that song.

Person 1: 'i miss you'
Person 2 : is that about John?
Person 1: no i just love that song
Person 2: she's totally lyric hinting to john

When you are very subtly telling someone your sexuality.

"My friend and I have been hinting about us being bisexual, but I don't think anyone in class has noticed."

darkly hinting 

Vaguely and indirectly referencing an opinion that would be offensive if spelled out, in order to avoid being banned. Toxic to conversations, because it leaves it to the person responding to reference the controversial topic. Common around racial politics in nominally neutral forums.

How about you stop darkly hinting and say what you mean?
