To get one or more individuals to make a specific behavior a habit.

Children are "habitualized" to watch television, brush their teeth, read. Teenagers are "habitualized" to smoke cigarettes, drink alcoholic beverages, watch movies, engage in casual sexual intercourse. Young adults are "habitualized" to drink coffee. Adults (specially in the United States of America) are "habitualized" to overwork, overconsume, hoard money and other things.

Synonyms: accustom, practice, train, habituate, brainwash, acclimate, acclimatize, teach, program, bring up, raise, make used to. Antonyms: autonomous, liberate, leave alone.

A set of norms and expectations unconsciously acquired by individuals through experience and socialization as embodied dispositions, ‘internalized as second nature’ (Bourdieu), predisposing us to act improvisationally in certain ways within the constraints of particular social fields.

Bourdieu Proposed the concept of the habitus as an integral part of behaviour reflected in a ‘way of being’: to include ways of seeing, moving, talking, and so on.

Habitually Offended

An individual so desperate for attention that they actively seek out anything they may possibly take offense and claim outrage to, caring nothing for the potential consequences of their actions so long as they gain the attention they feel they deserve for their invented slights and hardship.

Will is so habitually offended that he started trolling internet TV shows just to get his fix.
