Douyin makeup

A stupid name made up by Westerners to describe a diverse range of makeup styles originating from China. "Douyin" is the original Chinese version of TikTok but the majority of makeup trends in China do not originate from Douyin at all. Chinese makeup is also often misattributed to having origins in Japan or South Korea despite being distinctive from them. It is common practise for people in the West to tag images and videos of Chinese women on social media with hashtags like "japancore" or "kbeauty". A notable case involved the "manhua lash" trend in China being rebranded as "manga lashes" when they became popularized in the West. One of the most popular Chinese makeup styles is "chunyu", which is an entire aesthetic in itself.

Person 1: Oh my gosh, I love Douyin makeup.
Person 2: You can just call it "Chinese makeup". Refusing to do so is quite Sinophobic.

Probably the most powerful and mysterious anomaly ever conceived (and yet, not conceived). Feared by many, due to the strangely described occurrences of spontaneous combustion upon conception of the mere thought of its being.

The power of this so-called "phenomenon" was said to have been harnessed by a clan of individuals who took on the name. Many are said to have fallen to their will.
