Referring to someone who has a need for a belief or beliefs, and is uncritical about which or what they might be. You might find it useful when you encounter 'new age' types who are into crystals, feng shui, tarot cards, astrology: anything so long as it sustains belief.

To feel the need to believe in things just for the sake of believing, and be utterly unconcerned with any evidence for and against. The root of all religion.
