Chips is Chips

Chips is Chips: a statement that can be used in many scenarios to more or less declare that "it is what it is", or "live and let go". Almost always this saying is used to eleviate the intensity of a conversation, conflict, or dilemma at hand. It helps us single out the petty worries of day to day living.

Husband: "Oh what a terrible day! We lost power today at the office, I was stuck in traffic for two hours, and got pulled over ten minutes before I got home!"
Wife: "Don't worry about it so much dear, chips is chips."

Genuinely Chopped / Chopped Genuinely

adj. / adv. phrase
A level of ugly so authentic, unfiltered, and angle-proof that neither lighting, camera quality, nor prayer can save it.
This isn’t “the pic did them dirty.”
This is their permanent condition.

It describes someone whose chopped-ness is real in every universe — front camera, back camera, passport photo, security cam, Renaissance painting… all chopped.

Friend: “Be honest… gen chips or chips gen?”
You: “Both. That man is chopped. I saw his insta profile and got jump-scared.”

FISH & CHIPS

British Army acronym describing urban warfare, it stands for Fighting In Someone's House & Causing Havoc In People's Streets. It probably comes from some squaddie saying that urban warfare was fighting in someone’s house, another realised that it spelled “FISH”. The logical thing, given the British soldiers’ sense of humour would be to add “& CHIPS” and find something appropriate to match the letters. Strictly speaking that makes it a bacronym, but a remarkably appropriate one for all that.

Written in the chips

If you believe that something is written in the stars, you believe that it will be made to happen by a force that controls the future.

However, when something is written in the chips then it also becomes folklore within the Facebook Crockpot cooking community.

Susie made it so that her and Stuart's love would be written in the stars forever. Stuart had it written in the chips. Only then did Karen, James and their slow cooking companions know that Stuart did in fact love Susie. She was his liginto.
