Despite spending most of the time in the lower leagues, United have had two spells in the second tier and have reached the FA Cup quarter-final twice. The clubs nickname is the U's, whilst the fans are referred to as the Amber Army.

The club share a fierce rivalry with the other lot from Cambridgeshire, Peterborough United - AKA the scum.
